Original artwork description
“You are walking along a path at night, surrounded by a thick fog. But you have a powerful flashlight that cuts through the fog and creates a narrow, clear space in front of you. The fog is your life situation, which includes past and future; the flashlight is your conscious presence; the clear space is the Now.”
— Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now
Anastassia Skopp didn’t set out to illustrate this passage. But when the painting was finished, it was already there — branches close to the eye distinct and present, branches further away dissolving softly into mist. Natural linen breathes through the whole composition, a quiet, steady ground beneath everything that appears on it.
This is a painting about what you can see — not what lies beyond. The near, alive and legible. The far, soft and letting go. And between them, a stillness that asks nothing more than to be noticed.
The clear space is small. But it is enough.
