The Autumn Tree (2025) Original Pastel Drawing by Natalia Matveeva

This pastel drawing was created from life, observed from my window during autumn — the most vibrant and colorful time of the year, when trees transform and shift through a rich spectrum of hues.

I was especially drawn to this tree for its subtle variations and shimmering transitions of color. It is a Norway maple, whose foliage offers a remarkable range of warm tones.

The drawing is made on professional pastel paper. As is characteristic of pastel, the surface may release a slight trace of pigment, but the image itself is stable and protected, as it has been fixed with a специальным fixative.

Rendered in warm tones, the work conveys the atmosphere of a calm and beautiful autumn day.
