To walk into your own life with both arms open, refusing to make yourself small. That is the arrival, and it has nothing to do with the room.
The Arrival is an original acrylic painting on board, 30 x 20cm, part of my ongoing series The Middle Country. It began the way these paintings always do, with a loose, accidental ground, half accident and half intention, made somewhere in the middle where the paint and I meet. Out of that ground came a wall of red and magenta, birds scattering through the colour, and a figure moving forward with arms wide open, unbothered by the noise around her.
I paint the things that mean something to me: my family, held in the figures who move through this glowing, imagined landscape. This one is about the particular courage it takes to enter a room, a moment, a life, exactly as you are, without shrinking to fit it.
Painted with artist quality acrylics on MDF board. Ready to hang. Certificate of authenticity included. Ships worldwide direct from my studio in Brisbane, Australia.
