Atmospheric and windswept etching that transports you to the Scottish coast. Semi abstract in style.

A dark and moody artwork of rain sweeping across coastal hills and mountains. A dark sea in the foreground, with mountains rising beyond. All lit by sunlight falling through the dark clouds above.

This etching is printed on Fabriano, Italian, cotton based paper. I have selected Fabriano paper, as this surface gives a particularly matt, velvety finish, and an especially deep black is therefore achieved. To enhance the 'atmosphere' of this work, I have printed right to the edge of the paper, leaving no white border. Therefore, the etching is editioned, titled and signed on the rear (see photograph).

To create this etching I have used a zinc plate, aquatint and acid. To print, professional etching ink is smeared onto the plate, and gently wiped to remove excess ink. The image is created by placing the inked plate onto the bed of an etching press, with a sheet of 'Fabriano', white paper, on top. The press is then 'hand wound', pressing the plate and paper together, transferring the image onto the paper.

Due to the nature of printing an etching, each print is individually 'pulled'. Therefore there will be slight variations, making each print unique.

This print will be sent to you wrapped in tissue paper, in a sturdy cardboard tube.
