"Sunset" (2023) Original Acrylic Painting by Tanya Lytko

Sunset is a small, intimate abstract painting built around contrast — deep charcoal and grey tones interrupted by a strong passage of red and small flashes of warm yellow.
The surface is deliberately raw and textured, with visible layers and spontaneous marks that give the work a sense of movement despite its compact format. Rather than depicting a sunset literally, the painting captures that brief moment when the last intensity of colour remains before everything falls into darkness.
Created as an earlier, independent work, it carries a darker and more restrained energy than my recent paintings. Its 25 × 25 cm format makes it easy to place on a small wall, shelf or as part of a curated art grouping.
