Summit through the clouds (2026) Original Oil Painting by Cat Goward

Inspired by the French Alps and my experience hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc, Summit Through the Clouds captures one of those fleeting moments when the mountains emerge from the mist.

For much of the trek, cloud drifted across the landscape, hiding the surrounding peaks from view. When the clouds shifted, they framed the snow-covered summits, transforming the light and creating one of those majestic moments that stays with you long after leaving the mountains.

This abstract mountain painting explores that feeling of watching distant peaks appear and disappear through the clouds. Soft layers of blue, blush pink and atmospheric grey contrast with the textured mountain peaks, capturing the changing light and quiet majesty of the Alps.
