Summer River Reflections (2026) Original Oil Painting by Aleksandr Dubrovskyy

40 x 50 x 1cm (unframed)

£1,305.77

The first thing I noticed was that there seemed to be two skies: one above the trees and another moving quietly through the river.

The banks were dense with summer growth, but the water kept opening the landscape. Blue, cream and violet from the clouds appeared between darker reflections of the trees, disappearing and returning as the surface changed.

Green was probably the greatest challenge. I did not want the foliage to become one continuous mass, so I moved between cool blue-greens, deep shadows and warmer leaves touched by sunlight. Against them, the lighter water became even more luminous.

For me, Summer River Reflections is about that contrast: the weight and abundance of mature summer trees beside something as changeable as reflected light.

The painting's greens and blues sit particularly naturally with wood, linen and quiet neutral interiors.
