'Sucker' is a fantastical modern day memento mori.
There is an element of cuteness (the rainbow, balloon etc) representational of love but in a commercial valentines day way. The painting represents the want or need for something deeper, because the reality is our time is limited. We are not here for very long. I think we are all looking for a real connection to someone or something and we try to resist getting suckered in by fake things that don't really serve us.
This painting has strong form and a mixture of texture and vivid brushstrokes, including the background to create an almost dreamlike theme.
