Suburban Life (2025) Original Oil Painting by Natalia Matveeva

This is a compositional work about my life in a small town. Every day I walk along the same streets, and at some point I decided to create this composition, capturing the feeling of a familiar space and the repetition of everyday life.

The entrance into the canvas is through a green hedge, which occupies more than half of the painting. It becomes the main element of the composition — almost a decorative object, rich in color and texture. Despite the calmness of the landscape, the work contains life: birds and a dog.

The painting is created in a green color palette and is filled with vibrant color. It combines two different states: on one hand, a feeling of loneliness, monotony, and the quiet drama of everyday life; on the other hand, a sense of familiarity and attachment to a place that gradually becomes a part of your world.

The canvas was stretched onto the stretcher by me. The format of the work is elongated. The painting is varnished. The edges of the canvas are painted white.
