Storm and Calm (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Daria Vergina

52.8 x 72.8 x 1cm (framed) / 53 x 73cm (actual image size)

£557.17

Storm and Calm is a contemporary abstract painting about the coexistence of tension and stillness within us.

Deep natural black forms contrast with open areas of sky-like white, muted turquoise and soft blue. Warm sand and stone-inspired beige tones bring a feeling of earth, balance and grounding. Together, these elements create an abstract landscape that can be read as a meeting point between storm and calm, movement and silence.

The painting reflects my ongoing exploration of the horizon as an inner state rather than a physical line. Here, the horizon is fragmented and uncertain — suggesting a moment when one emotional state begins to dissolve and another starts to emerge.

Expressive black lines act as subtle boundaries within the composition, while the surrounding empty space creates a sense of breathing room. The work invites a personal interpretation: it may suggest a landscape, a memory, or an internal emotional landscape.

Original artwork — acrylic on paper, 50 × 70 cm. Sold framed in a black wooden frame with protective acrylic glass. Framed size: 52,8 × 72,8 cm.
