He has been wandering this planet long after humans disappeared, searching for a friend—a small cat—forgetting that his friend passed away hundreds of years ago. Over the course of his long journey, he has molted again and again, his form gradually changing and growing to colossal size, and he no longer remembers he is a caterpillar meant to become a butterfly.

If only he could remember who he is, grow wings, and fly into the sky, he might reach his friend waiting in heaven.

This work follows two earlier pieces about a caterpillar, titled "Encounter" and "Lonely Journey".

This work is composed of two unstretched, gessoed linen canvas sheets: 47 × 47 cm (left) and 47.2 × 47.3 cm (right). It was created using acrylic, marker, pencil, and paper collage. It includes white binder clips for display and felt padding to protect the work when clipped. The clips can be hung on hooks, nails, screws, or pins for display.

Materials used:

Acrylic, marker, pencil and paper on unstretched canvas
