Somewhere in Summer (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Kateryna Malomuzh

Large vertical abstract painting inspired by the freedom, warmth, and lightness of summer. Expressive brushstrokes, layered color, and organic forms create a vibrant contemporary composition that evokes travel, memory, sunlight, and carefree days away from routine.

Somewhere in Summer is a vibrant contemporary abstract painting inspired by the carefree feeling of warm days spent away from routine. The work evokes a place that exists somewhere between memory and imagination — a sun-filled landscape, a distant holiday destination, or simply that state of mind when there is nowhere to hurry and nothing that needs to be planned.

Expressive layers and spontaneous brushstrokes move across the canvas in a lively rhythm. Warm coral, peach, yellow, turquoise, blue, green, and deeper contrasting tones interact throughout the composition, creating a sense of movement, sunlight, and visual abundance.

Rather than depicting a specific landscape, the painting captures the emotional atmosphere of summer itself — freedom, discovery, warmth, and the quiet joy of having time for yourself. Organic forms and shifting color relationships allow the viewer to find their own associations within the work, whether with travel, nature, a favorite place, or a fleeting memory.

The composition feels energetic yet relaxed, balancing vivid color with a sense of openness and spontaneity. Its layered surface rewards close viewing, revealing new details and rhythms with each glance.

Created as a contemporary statement piece, Somewhere in Summer brings optimism, warmth, and a relaxed sense of vitality into modern interiors. Its vertical proportions make it especially suitable for living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, offices, vacation homes, boutique hotels, and sophisticated contemporary spaces.
