This work investigates the relationship between a solitary figure and the reflected sky on a lake's surface, in which the landscape becomes an emotional rather than a geographical space. Painted broadly and intuitively, the study focuses on atmosphere, composition, and the dialogue between the child and the surrounding landscape.

The work is a preparatory oil study for a larger painting from my ongoing series exploring the image of the child. It balances classical realism with a contemporary mood and contemplation.
