One of my favorite hikes is to Smith Lake in the five lakes basin area of California. I painted this piece plein air when the weather was perfect and the morning light extraordinary. Smith Lake is known for its aquamarine crystal Clearwater and peach colored rocks that cascade from the mountains to the shores edge. In the foreground of this painting are Lupin, lilies and grasses. This piece is small with a lot of intricacies and inviting touches for interest and serene tranquility.
