From the brightest fragments of memory, the mind constructs entirely new images. We gather familiar objects and unconsciously assemble them into forms that never existed before. I have often noticed that what appears new is almost always born from something old.

What happens to us in this process of transformation. Where do these altered visions come from, and where do they lead.

Here, an inflatable swim ring becomes an orbital system, a passage, and at the same time a black hole, a singularity. The human body appears only in fragments, as if emerging from nowhere and moving toward an unknown destination.

Perhaps this is how memory works. It releases us from one reality only to send us into another, built from remnants of the first.

From the series In Memory.
