I was on a painting trip in the Sierra Nevada Foothills in Northern CA, when I discovered this hidden gem. At an elevation of 4,000 feet in the Sierra Mountains, the North Fork of the Stanislaus River is concealed among the granite cliffs and magnificent redwoods of Calaveras Big Trees State Park and Stanislaus National Forest. I was instantly attracted to the river tumbling over stair-stepping waterfalls and crashing through granite boulder gardens.

Materials: Oil on oil-primed Claessens Belgian linen, mounted on the archival museum quality Gatorfoam panel.
