Sheltered in Shadows captures a quiet moment of retreat, when we step away from the outside world and turn inward.

The figure is surrounded by deep shadows, while warm light gently touches her back and shoulders. The shadows feel less like darkness and more like a quiet place to rest.

Part of my Shadows series, this painting explores the relationship between light, shadow and the quiet emotions we carry within us. I wanted the atmosphere to feel intimate, peaceful and comforting, like a moment when we can step away from everything and find a little shelter within ourselves.
