There are people and experiences that change us almost without our noticing.

Shaped by the Same Waters grew from thinking about what happens when two lives share the same experiences. We may travel beside someone for years, pass through the same difficulties or moments of happiness, and still be shaped by them differently.

I translated that thought into a textured abstract landscape in which forms repeatedly meet and separate. They suggest water currents, mountain ridges and terrain gradually altered by erosion, without settling into one recognisable place.

Water is particularly important to me as a metaphor. It adapts to what it encounters, changes resistant surfaces over time and carries traces from one place into another. It seemed very close to the way relationships work: we remain distinct, but contact leaves something behind.

Built with acrylic and natural sand, the painting moves between soft atmospheric areas and tactile, mineral textures. Light catches the raised surface differently throughout the day, revealing marks and transitions that are less visible from a distance.

For me, this original contemporary abstract painting is about shared experience, individuality and the quiet ways we become part of one another's story.
