Secret walk (2026) Original Sculpture by Michael Rofka

It took a long time for this work to reach its final completion. I created the two nearly identical geometric forms—both are pentahedrons—years ago. One is made of sheet steel, the other of wooden panels. The question then arose as to how to combine the two elements and how to treat their surfaces. Now, positioned one behind the other, they appear to interpenetrate. The surface of the steel element is treated with a mixture of elemental copper (as a pigment) and oil, while the wooden form is finished with an orange iron-oxide pigment and white. It is a work with a distinctly alchemical quality, characterized by rigorous geometry, intriguing materials, and a unique poetic expression.
