Secluded Sanctuary (2024) Original Oil Painting by Christopher Abrams

40.64 x 50.8 x 2.54cm

£550

During a recent family trip to the coast, after a day of running around with our nieces and nephews, we settled down on a gloriously warm evening as the sun slowly silhouetted the surrounding grasses on the sand at Hunstantion Beach.

Those who know, will know the area well, nestled in the thick of the undulating rolling sand dunes, where feet and legs slowly submerge into the soft, light warming sands. Hidden in plain sight are a few pale beach huts reflecting the stunning yellows, oranges of the setting sun and the light blues of a disappearing sky.

Careful consideration was taken when creating this piece, the setting sun was just high enough to illuminate the surrounding Pine Trees, reflecting ambers and emeralds gleaming against the shadows. Impasto marks made by various brushes and palette knives complete the oil painting, grasses shine golden yellows as they gently sway in the breeze.

Maybe this takes you back, fond times spent at the beach, be that a couple, a family or even a solitary walk. Feel that warming sun on your face, relax on the steps of the huts and bask in the calm. Drift away, breathe slowly. This is the way to spend a good day out.
