A studio oil painting inspired by my visit to Whitstable today (March 2017) - a very blustery day with dark and changing skies, I had left my painting equipment behind but even trying to sketch was near impossible due to the wind. This painting captures the mood of the day. I painted a red base colour then worked over this to create the bleak colours I had experienced on the beach. Oil painting on board mounted on white in a light wood frame
Oil on board, palette knife and brush, hand finished frame
