The Evening Breath. From the “Wales” series. (2026) Original Oil Painting by Irina Smirnova-Seymour

140 x 100 x 1.5cm (unframed) / 140 x 100cm (actual image size)

£4,000

In “Evening Breath,” the Welsh mountain landscape is transformed into a richly coloured work of contemporary landscape art, where Impressionism and semi-abstract art made by free expressive brushwork convey the distinctive atmosphere of Snowdonia. Violet and blue mountains, slopes glowing with crimson and purple tones, and the cool surface of the water create a sense of the landscape slowly settling into evening stillness.

This painting grew from my impressions of Snowdonia, where towards evening the rugged mountain scenery seems to soften and its colours become deeper and more complex. I wanted to capture not the sunset itself, but its lingering afterglow — as if nature, at the end of the day, takes a slow breath and becomes still for a moment.
