I like the idea of reusing materials - recycling - plus it's easier on the budget. I scout out old abandoned barns and farmsteads and glean suitable weathered boards to use. These boards are then sanded lightly to bring out sawmarks which in many cases are decades old. No finish is used - just raw wood. I use hi grade waterproof glue for maximum durability but I find many collectors prefer to display these unique birdhouses as interior decoration. This beautiful birdhouse is part of my Rustic Deco furniture collection that I've been making since 1990. All handmade.
