These two bananas are past their peak, and that is precisely the point. Spotted, darkened, curving toward the end together, they are a meditation on mortality and on relationships that decay, two things that were once vibrant, now quietly dissolving side by side.

Painted in oils, the tonal range from bright gold to deep amber and brown traces the slow transformation of living matter. The pale background offers no distraction, only the two forms, and the question they ask of each other.

This work sits in the tradition of vanitas painting, finding in two ordinary pieces of fruit a reminder of what we all know but rarely say: that things end, and sometimes they end together.
