I wanted to capture one of the most dynamic moments of Western ranch life: a cowboy riding hard in pursuit, his lariat opening through the air as the horse and longhorn surge forward together. I used bold, simplified brushwork to define the figures and animals, while drifting dust intensifies the sense of speed. Warm ochres, dusty oranges, and earthy reds dominate the scene, balanced by touches of blue-gray and turquoise to create atmosphere and depth. Through loose brushwork, strong shapes, and directional movement, I aimed to express the freedom, courage, and rugged spirit of the American West.
