My inspiration for this rooster comes from the animals that surround my rural studio every day. As I work, I hear sheep grazing, horses calling, and goats wandering nearby. Their presence brings a sense of peace and joy that naturally finds its way into my art. The decorative style is inspired by the flowing lines and organic beauty of Art Nouveau, particularly the work of William Morris and Alphonse Mucha.
Each print is individually printed by hand with great care and attention to detail. Because every layer is inked and printed manually, slight variations in colour and texture make every impression unique. The reduction linocut technique is both demanding and irreversible: after each colour is printed, more of the linoleum block is carved away, making every stage permanent. The result is a truly handcrafted artwork that can never be reproduced once the edition is complete.
Watch the final layer of this linoprint being printed on YouTube and discover the fascinating reduction printing process.
Whether you're looking for a meaningful gift for an art lover or a striking piece for your own home, this rooster makes a beautiful statement. It also pairs wonderfully with the other animal linocuts in my collection, creating a harmonious gallery wall inspired by the beauty of nature.
