River Phoenix and the Phoenix family were the first people I knew of speaking as animal rights and environmental activists from way back in the 80’s. I still enjoy River’s movies, love his music. (Love all Phoenix families creative work). Last year I began a River painting and I was researching some of his interviews. The more I read the more I realized I was long overdue to make changes in my life. I stopped eating meat and dairy in November 2019. Becoming a complete vegan 1st Jan 2020.

Stylistically this painting was created to show River as a part of nature and nature as a part of him. the greens of the forest, the blues of the water and rivers. The Earth tones that link them. Showing that River, as we all are, connected to nature.

Easily one of my favourite paintings, it has inspired me in my well being, health and connection to nature.
