While creating this painting, I wanted to portray the quiet determination of a cowboy guiding his cattle through a rainstorm in the American West. Rain softens the distant mountains and towering cacti, creating a landscape that feels both vast and intimate, while the rider remains calm and steadfast. I used a restrained palette of cool blues and grays, layered brushwork, flowing vertical paint drips, and subtle shifts of light to evoke the moisture, atmosphere, and depth of the rainy landscape. Rather than emphasizing drama, I sought to express resilience, tranquility, and the poetic harmony between humanity and nature.
