Rainbow Agave (2026) Linocut by Laurel Macdonald

This is an image of an agave I saw in Oaxaca, Mexico. The curving blades of agave are endlessly varied. In this image, I painted the blades in various colors to underscore the wildly beautiful qualities of this plant.

I drew the image onto linoleum, carved out the negative space, inked up the raised area, printed it onto Strathmore printing paper, and colored the image with gouache and acrylic.
