"Quiet Strength" (2026) Original Oil Painting by Clement Mohale

Quiet Strength centers on the steady, unspoken power held within a child’s gaze, direct, calm, and deeply present. Rendered in layered blues, the figure embodies emotional depth, vulnerability, and resilience, set against a radiant orange background that suggests warmth, spirit, and inner vitality. The textured surface and deliberate brushwork reflect the accumulation of lived experience, even at a tender age.
The child is not depicted as fragile, but as aware holding innocence alongside an early understanding of the world. By isolating the figure within a luminous field, the painting invites an intimate encounter where colour becomes a language of feeling and presence outweighs narrative. Quiet Strength reflects my ongoing exploration of childhood as a site of truth and becoming, where dignity, endurance, and hope exist softly, yet powerfully.
