The Inspiration: So much of my work plays on the elements of texture and movement, pieces like "Quiet Forest Pines” specifically emphasize the textural element of oil paintings with a mix of oil paint and cold wax. Using one firm-bristled brush, each brush stroke retains its shape and texture; the repetitive motion and descending intensity from dark to light is always a very soothing process for me.
