POWER SHIFT (2026) Original Mixed-media Sculpture by tal rak
150 x 100 x 5cm (unframed) / 150 x 100cm (actual image size)
£4,187.89
Original artwork description
Power Shift is a sculptural installation composed of 36 individually handcrafted ants, made from epoxy with metal legs, surrounding a larger central figure. Their different colors, translucent surfaces, and irregular positioning create a sense of movement, as if the scene has been frozen in the middle of an encounter.
In nature, ants are not only builders and collaborators. They are also territorial fighters. Colonies defend their space, raid rival colonies, surround intruders, and can attack creatures many times their own size.
Power Shift captures that moment when the balance changes. A large figure is surrounded by dozens of smaller ants, transforming individual fragility into collective force. What appears small and vulnerable alone becomes powerful — even overwhelming — as a group.
The work explores conflict, survival, hierarchy, and the unexpected power of numbers.
The artwork comes with hanging instructions. Each ant is individually mounted using the included double-sided adhesive tape, allowing the installation to be arranged and displayed as intended.
