The fragility and fleeting nature of certain childhood games—when, in the woods, we would create passageways between trees, suspended huts, secret gardens among the rocks, and comical dams in the river.
If it rained, the woodshed became a workshop for building improbable contraptions: bike-sleds, tricycles, fish-cakes, rotating houses, sled-houses, and horse-drawn carts.
