2021, "Ancient Scots Pine" - marble sculpture

This original hand carved solid white marble sculpture is one of the latest artworks of the skillful professional Bulgarian sculptor Rasho Mitev, deeply inspired by modernism, minimalism and naturalism. It represents one beautiful scots pine tree portraiture in unique graphic figurative fashion. The main sculptural art object is hand carved solid marble rock, polished and organic in color and shape. The pedestal base is solid raw limestone, there are traces of ancient sea shells, turned into this beautiful sedimentary stone. In a millions of years time limestone has formed its structure from ancient sea beds. While marble at other hand has been in the form of limestone before crystallizing its structure and metamothozing into its new rock marble shape. It means that marble material is limestone material before its structure gets crystallized millions of years ago. The artist's concept is to use this beautiful ancient process to portraiture the ancient scots pine tree, growing out of its original form and structure, finding its way towards the sun.
