Actual Title is Picked A Bad Year To Give Up Smoking
The title of this figurative piece was inspired by the old movie Flying High - a comedy parodying the disaster film genre. During a tense landing the air traffic control boss declares at various stages 'looks like I picked the wrong week to quit smoking....looks like I picked the wrong week to quit drinking....looks like I picked the wrong week to quit amphetamines....looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue...etc and it struck me that that's how this year is unfolding with disaster after disaster hitting us.
On an artistic note, the painting was inspired by a recently commissioned piece which involved an elegant woman in a black church hat with red lips and wearing an emerald ring. I enjoyed painting it so much that I decided to start a series based on it and this is the first one.
Painted on archival quality linen and is ready to hang. Certificate of Authenticity is included.
