I created this pastel drawing of a dancer is the embodiment of rhythm, an etude of dynamics and form of movement expressed by a female nude in full, almost acrobatic movement. Her curves are taut like piano strings and symbolize the energy and passion she puts into her dance. The piano, with its vertically oriented keyboard and rhythmically alternating black and white keys, intersects with sharp lines that express the strict order of the etude – it is technical precision combined with unbridled dance. Tension and relaxation, ying and yang.
