Philae (2021) Original Acrylic Painting by Julia Kerrison
30 x 40cm (unframed) / 30 x 40cm (actual image size)
£550
Original artwork description
Capture the breathtaking magic of discovery with this captivating painting of the Temple of Philae.
This artwork uses a frame-within-a-frame composition, positioning the viewer inside a shaded, ancient stone doorway looking out into a sun-drenched courtyard. The foreground structure is rich in historical detail, showcasing deeply carved hieroglyphics along the left column and a prominent winged sun disc relief stretching across the lintel—a traditional Egyptian symbol of protection.
Through the portal, the bright mid-day sun illuminates a ruined courtyard complete with weathered stone foundations, a distant colonnade, and scattered desert greenery against a stark rocky backdrop and a clear blue sky. The powerful contrast between the cool, shadowed interior and the vibrant, sun-baked landscape outside creates a remarkable sense of depth and realism.
A perfect feature piece for collectors of archaeological art, travel-inspired landscapes, and fine art that tells a deep historical story. Along with my other Egyptian work, this painting was produced form my own sketches and photographs after a visit to the Valleys of the Kings and Queens.
I handle and package all my artwork with the utmost care. Your painting will be carefully wrapped in protective materials and fully tracked and insured to ensure safe arrival. (If you have any questions about framing, hanging, or international shipping, please feel free to send me a message!)
This is a one-of-a-kind artwork, created and painted by me. I always
sign my work on the back of the painting and initial on the front. You will
also receive a certificate of authenticity on the back of your painting.
