Pergola (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Lola Juan

Pergola emerged from my fascination with the spaces we create to protect ourselves—and the invisible worlds that exist within them. I imagined a woman standing beneath an ornate structure that feels both architectural and dreamlike, holding a small origami bird close to her heart.
The warm reds, oranges and ochres contrast with the softer, muted landscape behind her, creating a feeling of quiet mystery. For me, the pergola becomes more than a shelter: it is a threshold between the inner world and the outside world.
This painting is special because it brings together several elements that are deeply present in my work—women, symbolism, architecture and the delicate presence of birds—to create a moment that feels suspended between reality and a dream.
