Percival's Homecoming (2026) Original Oil Painting by Neil McVicar

Percival’s Homecoming explores the climax of the Grail quest—the shift from mortal exhaustion to divine revelation. After years of relentless searching, the weary knight arrives at a forest stream only to find the ancient stone gate of Castle Corbenic reduced to ruined architecture. Facing the weight of wasted time and despair, a sudden burst of celestial light pierces the twilight forest, forming the blade of Excalibur in the air and shimmering on the water's surface. Beyond the archway, the gold and silver turrets of a heavenly castle materialize among the pines, signalling the end of his earthly journey and a return to eternal grace. Rendered in luminous blues, cool forest hues, and striking radiant highlights, this narrative painting captures a transcendent moment of spiritual homecoming.
