Pensive Cat Van Gogh (2026) Original Oil Painting by Olga Koval

Pensive Cat — Original Oil Painting

About the Artwork
Pensive Cat is an original cat painting in oil on canvas, featuring a thoughtful feline wearing a yellow straw hat. Inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s iconic Self-Portrait in a Straw Hat, this playful artwork reimagines the celebrated artist as a cat.
The expressive cat portrait combines humour, art-historical reference and emotional depth. Large, contemplative eyes create an intimate focal point, while energetic brushstrokes and vivid blue, green and yellow tones bring movement and vitality to the composition.
A lively background and strong colour contrasts give this Van Gogh-inspired art a bold contemporary presence, making it an engaging piece of contemporary wall art for collectors and cat lovers.

Created with professional fine-art oil paints on canvas, this original oil painting features rich layers of colour and visible brushwork. The textured surface and expressive marks add depth, character and individuality.

Rather than a conventional animal portrait, Pensive Cat is a distinctive statement piece that combines figurative painting with contemporary decorative appeal. Its vibrant palette makes it well suited to collectors seeking original contemporary art, colourful wall art and expressive animal artwork with personality.
