A canvas filled edge to edge with golden pears, whole and halved, packed together in a glowing mass of yellow. This painting is a study in warmth, an exploration of just how many variations a single family of colour can hold.
From deep amber and ochre in the shadows to pale buttery cream where the cut halves reveal their flesh, every pear carries its own shift of tone. The glossy skins catch the light in bright highlights, while the exposed interiors, soft and matte, offer a gentle counterpoint. Here and there a stem or a cluster of seeds adds a note of deep brown.
