Passing shadows (2025) Original Mixed-media Painting by Sophie HORS

I am fascinated by the way light can transform an ordinary moment into something extraordinary. In this painting, two walkers cast elongated blue shadows that become almost monumental, contrasting with their modest silhouettes. The composition explores perspective, scale and the quiet poetry of everyday life. I painted the canvas with acrylic and I also incorporated hand-cut paper collage: the clothing of both figures is created from selected cut paper, while the patch of green grass in the lower right corner is made from fragments of metro poster in Paris, adding texture, history and visuel dimension to the composition. Soft greens, warm sunlight and rich blue shadow create a balance between realism and abstraction.
