Pas comme les autres # 2 (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Armandine JS
46 x 55 x 1.5cm (unframed)
£819.46
Original artwork description
Mixed media on canvas: acrylic, collage, drawing on paper, embroidery and cotton thread lace.
A woman tilts her head, her gaze serious, her lips red, her hair pink. Two turquoise marks colour her cheeks, and fine white embroidery rests on her face like a tear. On her shoulder, a wing drawn on paper, feather after feather, speaks of lightness and fragility at once.
The background is built from collage and paint: torn papers, soft blue clouds, ochre patches and sea-green stripes. A fragment of printed text ("pas comme les autres") surfaces in the collage. On the left, the canvas opens onto its raw wooden stretcher. A lace of white cotton thread, made by the artist directly on the canvas, links the canvas to the stretcher.
A piece about being singular, about what is shown and what is hidden, and about the gentleness it takes to accept being different
