Original artwork description
It is hard to admit when one has a dependency on drugs and alcohol. This is one of the first pieces I created after getting sober. Before I got sober, I was able to take my emotions out on my paintings. It was my release. You could tell with the emotionally driven paint strokes and lack of restraint of my earlier pieces compared to some of my newer pieces. I started to realize that by the time I had gotten to my canvas, I had gained tools to work on my emotions and I was no longer approaching the canvas with the previous angst and anxiety that had previously driven me to create. I started to paint with more control. I became a different artist. An artist I'm still exploring and getting to know. This painting represents that sudden urge to flee, or fall, or disappear.
