I was on a roadtrip to Outback Queensland and beyond in mid November last year.
The heat was overwhelming reaching mid 40's but I was on a mission to collect photos to use as a reference for future paintings.
I drove south of Winton and headed into the unknown following a dried up river bed into an abandoned sheep station. Abandoned after years of trying to make a go of it in a dry unforgiving land.
I parked the car in the only spot of shade I could find and started off in the blazing heat. My goal was to wander up the river bed to see if there was any sign of water.
Eventually I came across this little oasis of a small area of water damned off up stream and just had to paint it.
