Our Journey (2025) Original Acrylic Painting by Adam Bogusz

A whole hill of lives, each one busy with a world of its own. None of them arriving, and all of them already here.
Our Journey is an original acrylic painting on board, 90 x 90cm, part of my ongoing series The Middle Country. It began the way these paintings always do, with a loose, accidental ground, half accident and half intention, made somewhere in the middle where the paint and I meet. Out of that ground came a whole hillside of gold and green, cockatoos scattered through the trees, and a dozen small lives moving through it at once, cycling, fishing, flying kites, walking home.
I paint the things that mean something to me: my family, held in the many figures who move through this glowing, imagined landscape. This one is about the strange truth that a life is never really one single journey, it is many small ones happening all at once, each person absorbed in their own.
