North Cornwall. Winter, 2015.

The sun is going down and the cliffs are on fire.
That orange light. It arrives low and fast in a Cornish winter, catching the top of the headland, burning it gold while the Atlantic below stays cold and silver-blue. The rocks are dark. The sea is still. And for a few minutes, everything is lit from the side like a painting that nobody planned.

This is Gary's backyard. The coastline he surfs, reads, lives alongside. After twenty years here he knows its moods intimately — the swell direction, the quality of the light, the precise moment the day decides to do something extraordinary.
Part of a series capturing the texture and light of the Atlantic during Cornish winter storms — the ocean at its most raw, most alive, most itself.

Shot on a Nikon full frame camera and printed on Hahnemühle Bamboo archival paper. Full frame, never cropped, exactly as it was.

Each print is made entirely by hand in Gary's own studio. Every stage, from camera to finished print, is carried out by Gary himself. Never outsourced. Always personal.
