Onions (2026) Original Oil Painting by Nimasha Perera
20.32 x 20.32 x 0.3cm (unframed) / 20.32 x 20.32cm (actual image size)
£302.23
Original artwork description
A pile of red onions, an unlikely subject, yet up close they become something else entirely. Deep crimson and purple, shot through with streaks of magenta and white, each one glowing against the dark background like a jewel.
This work began with a fascination with colour and pattern, the way identical objects arranged together create rhythm and abundance. Painted in oils, the rich layering of pigment captures the papery sheen of the skin, the soft highlights, and the dark shadows where the forms press against each other.
The aim is simple: to stop the viewer in their tracks, to make them see something ordinary as genuinely beautiful.
