Trains, buses are very good places to capture people & poses ideas. I sometimes have a fantasy of setting up an easel in a packed train … ride & paint…
This is an expression of that, based on a large pastel crayon drawing I did long ago. There’s also an earlier painting of the same sketch which I did about that time (the long ago time), which is now lost. I have a few on the ‘lost‘ list… It’s a bit disturbing.
This version has brilliant colours, lots of white overlays and rough brush strokes to break the stiffness, and bring movement to the scene.
The close up picture is of higher resolution to be able to get a better feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting.
The third picture is of the oil pastel drawing, the original 'sketch' the painting is based on.
