This painting is part of The Way of Flowers, an ongoing project by Alex Kott.

Here, flowers grow into a dense field of black, green and yellow. They are not meant to be botanical or decorative: each form has its own weight, direction and mood. The dark flowers hold the composition together, while the greens and yellow details bring light and movement to it.

I painted the work in acrylic, building it through broad, visible brushstrokes and layers of colour. From a distance it reads as a strong floral image; closer up, it becomes a surface of marks, shades and small changes in tone.
